Principal's Message
It is with great pleasure and a renewed sense of excitement that we welcome you back to Dunne Technology Academy for another great year! We returned to the news of very pleasing ISAT results! We achieved the highest gains in Area 16 in Reading and Math. We also saw outstanding results in Science and Writing, where we outperformed the district and state on several tests. I am very proud of the hard work and dedication of our committed staff and our students’ academic achievement. Well done to all!
Parent involvement is an integral part of our success. We thank you for supporting our efforts and standing behind our goals and leadership. Please continue to support learning at home by helping your child with homework, reading with your child and having daily conversations about what is going on at school. By working together, we can create the best academic environment possible for our school to ensure that we continue to produce confident, successful learners. We humbly seek your active participation in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of school programs through involvement in the Local School Council and the NCLB PAC/PTO.
We warmly welcome new members of the Dunne staff: Ms. Rutha Dixon, 7/8th grade Math; Ms. Towanda Collins, Occupational Therapist; Ms. Irma Collins, Nurse; Ms. Kathryn Pettis, Social Worker; and Ms. Stacy Wright, Principal Resident. These new members of our Dunne family are positive additions to our educational program.
Don’t forget to sign up for Parent Portal, a web-based tool that allows you to securely view your child’s grades and attendance on-line. Through Parent Portal, you can register to receive e-mail or text notifications when your child is absent or when his/her grades drop below a point you identify. It is an invaluable tool in keeping you in touch with your child’s progress in school.
Finally, I would like to wish your family a very happy and successful school year. We are absolutely committed to ensuring your learner receives an unparalleled and exceptional educational experience. If you ever feel that we can improve what we do, we would love to hear from you!
Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your child’s education at Dunne Technology Academy.
Sincerely,
Chandra Byrd-Wright, Principal
